The purpose of this website is to raise awareness about the need for system change and discuss how different segments of society, especially business, might bring it about.  The System Change section discusses systems thinking, wisdom and other big picture issues.  The Articles section provides more specific ideas about addressing systemic challenges and opportunities facing business and society.  

 

Growth in economic activity, population, pollution and resource consumption are driving increasing environmental and social problems.  The growing financial relevance of these issues has caused many companies to implement aggressive sustainability strategies.  This has driven great improvements in corporate environmental and social performance. But there is still a long way to go.  

 

It is becoming increasingly clear that economic and political systems developed from a reductionistic perspective make it effectively impossible for companies to operate in a fully responsible and sustainable manner.  To ensure the well-being of business and society, system change will be needed.  

 

Evolving our systems into sustainable forms is the most complex challenge facing business and society.  Success can only be achieved through collaboration, strong leadership, systems thinking and having the courage to deal with uncertainty.  

 

The work involves articulating a clear, compelling vision of a sustainable world, developing a practical transition strategy, and working together to implement it.  This website provides a few ideas. There are many more out there.  The challenge of our generation is to bring them all together into a coordinated, successful solution.  The opportunity is to do what’s right for our children.
